He would be a PEW (aa cbcb). Are siamese gerbils as rare in Russia as they are here in the US? Congrats on your babies- I'm so excited my siamese mom just gave birth to her first litter a couple hours ago they're my first colorpoint pups, I'm soooo happy right now ;D What other gerbils/pairs do you have?

Peschanka, the pup is very likely a dark-tailed white. The dark tail doesn't develop until later. Breeding two siamese should give approximately 1/4 burmese, 1/2 siamese and 1/4 Dark-tailed white. So it makes sense that you got a white pup and s/he would be aa ChCh.

hey sorry, I just read a post on two 2 burmese pairs and wrote back as if you had 2 burmese parent's- that would have given you 75% burmese, and 25% PEW but only if both paren'ts had Pp, and that's probably unlikely. With 2 siamese gerbils you'd get what queenofthenile said, and only PEW if both parent's carried Pp.

Yes, the answer depends. If BOTH your siamese have one recessive p gene then you will have 25% PEW and 18.75% DTW. If one or both is homozygous dominant for P (PP not Pp or pp) then 25% will be DTW and there will be no PEW at all. If you don't know if they both carry recessive p, then you have to keep the pups long enough for the colour to develop on the tails if they might have DTW. I've heard that can take 6 months!

Beautiful pup- he does look DTW as his tail is getting light gray colored compared to the rest of him. Usually DTW's carrying aa, like yours have darker tails, they continue to get darker until they are 6 months old. My DTW male has a deep brown color right now, he is just over 6 months and his tail has been progressively growing darker up to this point. Are you going to keep your DTW pup? He's a cutie ;D

DTW can be a very unusual and striking colour, and it is useful to breed to any gerbil that carries c(chm), burmese or colourpoint agouti to get Siamese pups. I'd keep him if he was mine! I know it can be a long wait to see if the tail develops, but it looks to me like he is a DTW because he appears to have ruby eyes rather than pink. This is my former PEW (he has been rehomed to Crazycritter's), Snowy: You can see how his eyes are different than your white gerbils.'

No, I don't think so, I think there is a shade difference between the pink and ruby eyes. Ruby flouresces red in flash and pink flouresces hot pink with light pink tones. Time will tell because the tail will darken. If you keep him in a cooler room his tail will get even darker.

So, he will be DTW ?

Yup, he has to be DTW unless his parent's both carry Pp.
If you know both your siamese gerbils carry Pp, then 1/4 will be PEW, 19% Burmese, 19% DTW, 37% Siamese.
But chances are he is DTW because either way you will get DTW pups in every litter. Plus his tail looks a little whitish gray- my DTW's tail was lighter then that, then reached that stage, and continued to grow darker.
My room has the worst heating so in the winter it get's kind of cold, that's probably another reason his tail got so dark. Is this the first litter your siamese pair has had a white pup?
