Does anyone have a picture comparing spotted argente golden to spotted argente cream/topaz, or any pics of a spotted sapphire?
I'm just curious as to how different those look. I'm hoping to get some of those colors out of my latest batch of pups, and I wanna know what to look for! ;D

This is a very good question, one that I have struggled with too. The answer is that there is quite a bit of variation in shading. I can supply you with pictures of my own gerbils that I now know EXACTLY what genes they were carrying and what colour they are. As you can see, there is a big range in colours especially in spotted gerbils. I have been breeding a line of gerbils in which the spotting dilution is at a minimum. Anyways, here goes: Argente Golden: Topaz (carries one c(chm) gene), and the colour becomes more tawny, less orange: Spotted Argente Golden pups next to a Topaz pup, you can see the more muted colour of the unspotted pup. The spotting does not generally dilute the forehead colours as much: Now my specially bred, pied Argente Golden with minimal dilution of the coat colour: Here he is next to another pup from another litter, the pup was the lightest spotted Topaz I had ever seen, with a peach colour (darn, I should have kept him): The spotted Topaz when younger, very light as you can see: A spotted Argente Golden and a spotted Argente Cream: And, again, from the same litter, a spotted Argente Cream and a spotted Argente Golden. You can see the more intense colour on the forehead of the Argente Golden:

Thanks for all the wonderful photos! Those really help a lot. ;D I do have one topaz, the coloring got a lot more obvious as he grew older and the color deepened on his nose/extremities a bit more, but I'd never seen a spotted topaz before.

Oh, and there's a spotted sapphire pup on the end of the four pups in a row with the topaz between two spotted argente's, just so you can see the colour.
