Hello,
Momma Bear had her last litter last night. She had 5 pups and 3 of them have pink eyes.
Her 2 previous litters consisted of burmese, SP burmese, and PEW's.
Does that mean that the three with pink eyes are all destined to be PEW's or could they be maybe a Lilac or Dove or Sapphire?

Can you remind us of her colour and her mate's colour?

I know that the mate is a spotted burmese, and Mama Bear is either a burmese or cp slate. The red-eyed pups are most likely PEWs, as they can't genetically be lilac, sapphire or dove.

Queenie is right! In fact I'd say 100% of your pink eyed pups are going to be Pink Eyed White. I think they are lovely! I have 2 males and 1 female, and if you breed a PEW to a Burmese or Colourpoint you will get a hefty proportion of Burmese and other colourpoint type pups in the litters. If the Burmese or Colourpoint mate does not carry a p recessive 100% of the resulting pups will be colourpoint types. I therefore consider a good PEW with an excellent body type a very good acquisition for breeding purposes. Some people are put off by the fact that Pink Eyed Whites eventually become yellowish if they reside on wood shavings. I keep mine on paper pellets mixed with hemp, and they stay beautiful, especially if they get regular sand baths: Snowy Baker, who now belongs to Crazycritter: And my Snowie, here pregnant with pups off my Burmese, Thaddeus:

Theoretically, some of the pink-eyed pups could be red-eyed white if Squirt carries g (from pics Momma Bear looks like a cp slate). Either way, they will look almost identical.

Thank you both for your feed back. I think that I will wait to see what the 2 dark eyed pups are then make a decision of who to keep with the female CP Nutmeg I have. I would love to get a burmese but currently, I only have a female SP Burmese available.

Snow Baker is really gorgeous!! I'm hoping to have a CP pair that will have mottled CP agouti's, lcp agouti's, burmese, siamese, lcp/cp nutmeg, lcp/cp DEH...if I can get the genetics right, using my current pups I didn't know you had a cp nutmeg pup Sweetie, do you have her picture posted on another thread somewhere?

I only have her picture at a week and a half. I am awaiting the return of my digital camera and I will snap some more for you.
I really want to get a picture of Bear's newest and last litter.
I think I am going to keep the CP Nutmeg pup and if I can find a Burmese female in the next litter, I will keep her paired with the CP Nutmeg.
I am done breeding for the mean time. I have a lot going on and really don't have the proper amount of time to be placing pups in good homes. This is also a hard area to place pups. All of my adopters have been from out of state!!

Hope to see her pictures up soon ;D I'm sorry you had to seperate your pairs I have to stop breeding also, but only until next fall. (I'm keeping fathers with sons, mothers with a daughter). I'm not going to be home on weekends this summer, and wouldn't be able to properly care for the pups, and I'm having trouble placing the mottled pups, (though the tuxedo's go fast enough ) When I start breeding next fall I think I'm only going to have one pair, I was considering pairing my Honey Cream (Taffy) with a CP slate carrying Ee and PP. Pups should be spotted and pied, in equal numbers of Agouti, Grey Agouti, DEH, Polar Fox, Light CP Agouti, Light CP Grey Agouti, Black, Slate, Nutmeg, Silver Nutmeg, Siamese, Light CP Slate, Light CP Nutmeg, Light CP Silver Nutmeg And twice as many BEW's as average each other color, and hopefully a few Honey Creams. That would cover almost all the colors I'd like to have, and I wouldn't have to many pups to place. But it's going to be really hard to split the pairs up, especially Fate and Risk- those two are completely devoted to each other, when Risk plays in teh corner and Fate sleeps with the pups, he'll come over after awhile and groom her head, she'll jump up roll onto her back and let herself get groomed, then he takes her place with the pups adn she'll run off for some quiet alone time. It'll be hard to split them up I wish they could stay together, and only have litters once in a blue moon, rather then monthly. (I checked and no vets will neuter rodents here).

Hey Cal,
I understand what you mean when you say they are totally devoted. Bandit and Honeymunch were really close and when I had to split cage them for birth control reasons, He was miserable. They allways tried to get to each other. As soon as I took off the lid, they would scale the wire to get to the other side. Toward the end, he would just sleep most of the day. I let him play with the pups once in a while and he seemed to cheer up for a bit.
The other breeding pair I have is much the same as yours in that they take turns cuddling and sharing the rearing. It was heart breaking to keep them separated. I was lucky to find a vet that nuetered them. I could not imagine what it would be like!!
