Wow he's gorgeous! I like the depth of the black color with all the mottling. He desn't look faded like a lot of mottled gerbs!

Exactly! ;D Unfortunately I can't take the credit, he was totally unexpected. His mom was a spotted (not pied or mottled) Agouti and his dad an unspotted Lilac. No mottling in his ancestry at all. Go figure.

How bizarre! Has that pair had any more mottled pups? (The only thing I can think is that one of them had some absolutely fabulous modifiers.)

Yup, and he doesn't even seem to be carrying any recessives! No, the pair did not produce any other mottleds.

I'm glad I got to come out for Tea and meet your Bunch. Milky Way is very hansome, and Huge! lol He's a big boy all right! All your gerbils are beautiful, it was great to see/learn about ALL the differences in genetics and colours, I now know I own a "Saffire" and not a dove PS : All the boys are getting along, and sleeping together The little Siamese wants So badly to play in the wheel with the big boys, but they don't give him much of a chance he's going to need to grow a bit more so he can push them around

Thanks, Andrea, it was lovely! Today I have been enjoying holding (and showing off) Gumba with Amber. They are such a beautiful couple together. Glad that little Siamese is settling in well.
