I have brought this up to a small extent in another thread, but I think it is time to ask it here. I have 2 DEHs. Squeaky is dark: Battle is light: Is Battle a light DEH or golden agouti? BTW, she has a white belly.

Nice pictures, Squeaky looks like a DEH, and Battle almost looks like a light agouti, but I suppose he could be a lt. DEH. You can try checking the color at the base of their hairs, these are pictures from Peter's site: Golden Agouti: Dark Eyed Honey: Here's a picture from Donna (ABC gerbils) site, of a light dark eyed honey, next to a regular CC dark-eyed honey

Thanks, I think she must be a very light DEH then. She has that white/yellowish color all the way to her skin and then the dark ticking on top. But the difference in color between Squeaky and Battle is huge!

They are definatelly not golden agouti. Squeaky is a DEH for certain. But Battle is indeed a very light one! I'm not an expert on colourpoints, but can it be a DEH with colourpoint genes?

Yes, the darker one looks like a Dark Eyed Honey and the lighter one looks like a Dark Eyed Honey with one lightening gene (probably the colourpoint gene), c(chm).

Could be Cch, too, depending on how available chm is in your area, Ryan. Around here, chm is extremely rare, but ch is very common.
