If an agouti and an agouti mate, is it only possible to get agoutis? What if both agoutis are directly related to an argente (parentwise)?

Well it depends on your recessives If both agoutis are Aa then you could get AA Aa and aa pups ( ie 3/4 agouti types 1/4 selfs). If they carry c(h) or c(chm) you will get some with coat dilution If they both carry Ee 1/4 will be ee (DEH, nutmeg etc) In other words..........there are two ways to find out 1) check out the genetic background of your gerbils and use a gene calculator to find out what you might get (the more info the better ie parents colours/genes, grandparents, siblings, cousins). Many breeders will tell you waht your getting (ie, golden agouti carrying recessive a and e). 2) put them together and see what happens I would suggest the former can save you having lots of leftover agoutis. have a look at www.gerbilshowsuk.org for a list of colours and genes there are plenty more sites that can help you too Good luck
