I just put feisel and goat together in a wire cage and an aquarium connected by a tube. They seem to be doing well-- Goat just finished grooming Feisel (awwwww!) Anyway, Feisel was having trouble climbing up the steep red part of the tube, so I tried to make her a rope ladder but Goat kept chewing on it/getting tangled in it, so I made a wire ladder instead by running pieces of wire through the little air holes on the side of the tube. It works! It just made me think-- one great thing about gerbils is they really bring out the inner inventor in the gerbil owner. I'm constantly having to invent stuff like that. I was just wondering if you guys have any favorite gerbil inventions you could tell us about/post pictures of? I think it'd be fun to see! Anyway, here's their new cage: and here's Feisel in the aquarium! (Those of you who were helping me guess what color she is, maybe you can see better in this picture??)

Great gerbil domain there. I'm not very knowledgable on colors, but Feisel might be a polar fox...? That's judging from the black eyes and white body, though. I could be completely off.

Haha, that's awesome. I invented the...um...gerbil Highrise. It's cheap and easy way to increase the amount of room for your gerbils. You just cut a hole in your wire lid., and put the top of your hamster cage on it. Voila! The Red thing you see there, is one of the six sides of a hamster playpen. I turned it into a ladder. Hole in wire.

I agree, we are now inadvertently gerbil creators.
I had to create a barrier so that the gerbils did not nest under the couches so I used the kids giant legos to put under the couch so that they did not come in. I also invented a rig up for the food dish. Also. I created the wood and wire lid that I have seen others do, I also did the coconut hut.
My Dad constructed a 3X5 foot 3 feet high blockade so that I can now let the kids play with their legos and let the gerbils out in a safe environment since they have all learned to jump over the playground enclosure.
I am sorry that I don't have time for all the pictures. The coconut and the food dish is already on hereonly in different posts.
It is amazing how creative one can get if the incentive is there!
BTW Devun, I love your gerbil. Is it a polar fox? Great idea with the wire.

I don't have it like this anymore because those plastic tubes are a pain. But I cleaned out 2 containers and connected them: One on the left is a washed out jug that had cat litter in it. I made it into a sand box. One on the right is just a pail.

It's connected, but only by the tube. Those plastic SAM type tubes fit perfectly in the opening of the jug. I poked holes in the top of the jug which was too high for them to chew or scratch at them.
