All my gerbils loves their wheels they are constantly on them and probably dreaming about them when asleep lol. The last wheels I bought were the spinner wheels like the one shown above, they love that wheel and even fight over it, and... tear it up too. I am going to buy the mesh wheels now and see if they can chew that lol expensive little furries 
They chew everything they do even their food bowl lots of cardboard is cut and put aside for them and every toilet roll is given to them also, they don't like wooden toys but will gnawl on tree limbs Hugs Deana
