Had to share this goofy story. A couple times a week i make my living room into a gerbil proof room, and let the rodents have turns playing in it. I usually sit on the couch or in the middle of the floor with the little furries. This week i was letting my old man gerbil Chevy have a run around while i munched on chips & salsa watching some TV. Chevy who is a TINY little guy (looks like a girl with testicles LOL) decided to hop into the chip bag, i thought that was kinda funny, but then he ran out with THE largest chip in the bag! He ran across the room so i wouldn't take it away from him! I so wished i had the camera at that time, tiny gerbil with HUGE Chip in his mouth! I love my fuzzies! Here is a picture of the Chev-myster (As you can see, a bit extra food could do him good LOL)

Awwww! What a funny story...(mental image appearing of Chevy hurtling across the room with huge chip not being able to see where he's going!) Did you let him eat it? or had it gone by the time you got to him! As I'm finding out Gerbils do the 'FUNNIEST' things, and then they look bemused when we laugh at them! ;D - Fab Furries ;D Caroline

After all the effort it took him to get it out of the bag and run across the room with it, he deserved it LOL. i didn't think a corn chip would be to bad for him, and he's an old guy so is alloud to be spoiled oh AND he ate the WHOLE thing! LOL

No more chips for him I always thought he would bulk out, but he's over 2 now and still a bean poll. He was a pet shop gerbil, so we are blaming it on bad breeding. No matter though, I love him all the same.

I don't think that Chevy is too thin... I find that Pale Gerbils are normally thinner than the WildColoured ones, which have a tendency for getting fat... and dislike exercise...

The vet referred to my grey agouti, Dusty, as a "blimp."

I find that really interesting because I've always commented how Francine is really slim, she's definitely the slightest and most active of my girls. But Rory's so lazy, and grumpy, and definitely the biggest girl by a long way! And now I know it's to do with their colours! It makes so much sense now. Thanks!
