I have 4 adult Persian gerbils (meriones persicus) and they live in 2 big cages. where they can climb and run, play etc.
but why are rebuilding the gerbil house and there cages had to move. So I put them in a small (50cm x 30cm x 50 ) glass cage. Thinking it would be just for a couple of hours.
But one of the couples begins building a beautiful home, and a few minutes later a litter of 4 is born! I cannot move them, because she is a first time mom and very protective. But the cage is a bit small for them. They normal live in 50cm x 50cm x 100cm
Gerbils are very strangers. Why give birth in this cage?? Silly gerbil!
But they seem quite happy together in there small environment. They litter is doing greet and the female is a perfect mommy!

How sweet, and typical!!! Maybe she feels more secure in the smaller environment? As long as they're happy leave them to it! Any pics?

well i don't think she is verry happy at all She is mother for the first time and really hard on the pups). she is showing signs that she is borred and keeps walking with the puppys. and dropping them from high places Result that there are now only two puppys left (but doing great) I made sure that she cannot climb on the high places anymore. I tryed to get her to move by herself. i put the cage next to her own cage but she doen't want to move. Her male is happy in his old cage but she wished to stay in the small cage. So for now she will stay. in a few days the pups will have some hair and then I can move them. I will try to make some pictures then
