well first split cages are usually for intros.
I certainly wouldn't seperate girls and boys that way.
Secdonly how tight is your split? It must have no gaps. Gaps at the bottom will be buried under. Gaps at the top climbed over. Gaps at the side squeezed through.
a randy female gerbil will certainly exploit any weakness!!!

Well, i dint want to sperate them like that either, but I can't get another tank so I split the 55 gallon tank I had.
The split is so secure I can't even move it!

Well either your split is NOT 100% or your gerbil was not on the boys side.
You really do need to buy a seperate tank.
In the meantime do you have any pictures of the split? Maybe we can see what's wrong?

Split tanks are for intro's. I am suprised your males didn't kill each other when your females went into heat. Best to seperate them

i was surprised to!  I seperated them into to completly different rooms because she somehow kept finding her way back in! A friend of mine said that after the female has been mated with she can live with two males intill birth and then she has to be seperated, is the fact or fiction?  |

Why would you do that?
It risks creating friction in the colony + all the disruption when you seperate.
Seems to me a pregnant gerbil needs a stable environment not more stress.

The males are together still and cookie is with her friend Zonka. Cookie wants to be with BOTH males but I'm afraid something bad will happen! |

So which one out of the two girls is dominant? Because if its Zonka then Cookie's babies might be killed.
And something bad like babies? Or fighting?
Im surprised it didnt happen earlier with them both split together o_0''
