We have an indoor play pen which all the gerbils use (at seperate times obviously!) and last night it was Sarah and Gregory's turn. At first they gingerly tiptoed round the obstacles, through the tunnels and along the see saws.
Then Gregory did his usual speed wobble where he tears round at a tremendous pace and Sarah just stands watching.
Then they greet and roll about together for a bit and I'm just sitting on the sofa watching them - better than telly any day.
Then all of a sudden Sarah's on top of the wooden castle but I'm not too worried because I always put it in the centre of the play pen so she can't use it to climb out.
So she's sitting there sniffing the air when all of a sudden - LEAP!! She did the most gigantic leap through the air that I've ever seen in my life, it would have put our cat to shame, it was incredible. I quickly stuck my foot up to the edge of the pen (so I landed on the floor on my bottom!) but luckily caught Sarah before she scaled the fence.
*PHEW* what a scare, but soooo funny ;D

Oscar seems to do that alot also. I will put him out in the playpen and he will run around and play for a little, but when you see him sitting for a period of time you can tell he is gearing up for a quick escape. He has gotten loss out of his cage before when we were gone (luckily it wasn't a long time) and we came home and he was missing. We looked for him but we couldn't panic because we didn't want to accidently step on him. We found him 15 minutes later in our daughters room just sitting there almost seeming like he was laughing at us. Ha! Ha! So ever since it seems like he is on a mission of freedom.
