Gollie- y'all will have a thrill with this one!
Ok, so most of us all know that I used to work at my local PetSmart. Well, I went there to get some crickets for my froggie, and Mike asked me if I wanted to help him out with something. I rolled my eyes, as I just dropped my numbers... but I cannot say no. Somebody had gotten 2 male gerbils from there a while back, and then they came back with a 10 gallon tank and gerbils..... "this is your problem...."
Ok, so if they got 2 gerbils, why did 4 adults come back? The manages won't turn away small animals in good health, but these people gave over the cage/wheel/waterbottle and 4 adult gerbils....
Apparently one of the girls there (employee) put them into a new tank because she had to "chip" the bedding out of the cage they arrived in. Then.... um... there were 4 adults, and 8 babies.
Now, when I'm talking to mike, he tells me that this morning he found pinkies! So of course I have to look at them, but one of the employees has apparently took that mom and the pinkies home. So now there's 2 females.... apparently both are nursing, as they were quite "nipply" and.... yeah- DAD! I laughed and said, "If he was here for any of the births, then you can bet there's like a 90% chance that all 3 are pregnant again!"
So, I have now, a spotted black mom, an agouti mom, and 8 pups- 3 agouti, 1 black, and the rest spotted to lightly mottled blacks and a spotted agouti.
AH! Some people are dumbies.... more specifically- 4 adults in a 10 gallon- 3 females, 1 male in a 10 gallon- 3 females, 1 male and 8 babies in a 10 gallon.
Here's my only comment at the moment....
