I have had 2 female gerbils for about 2 1/2 years, Faith & Grace. This week Grace died of what we think was a respiratory infection. She was treated by a vet then I followed care instructions but she passed away this Wednesday. I miss her very much and feel very sad for Faith the remaining Gerbil. I want to help her as I am afraid she will be very lonely, and is lonely. Is it possible to introduce a new adult female to her? I know that I have read introducing a young Gerbil is best. However I do not want to be in the same situation again so soon wiht a lonely Gerbil. I've read about the different techniques but have not seen much about introducing two adult females. I am hoping it can work, please let me know if you have experience with this or know about it. Thank you Sarah

First: Welcome here on this forum, Sarah! ;D Introducing an adult female to another adult female is sometimes possible, but not always! Keep that in mind. I cannot guarantee that it will work! It depends on how your gerbils are! Some gerbils will accept other gerbils easier than others!
I have tried it once myself, and it worked after about 2 weeks split-caging them! However I have also heard from other that they had problems with doing that!
If you want to keep gerbils, you can also try to introduce her to two very young females (6-8 weeks old). She will accept them easier than an adult female!
