Hi - I just wanted to share a success story, regarding introducing 2 gerbils. I had 2 older gerbils (about 3 years old) together, and one younger gerbil (about 4-5 months old) on her own. One of my older gerbils died so after a week of the other two separate and alone, I put them in a split cage setup. After 2 days I removed the divider and supervised them closely. There was a little bit of chasing and some minor and short (5 seconds) boxing matches but overall they seemed ok together for a few hours. I put the divider in again for overnight then the next day took it out again. They are now great friends and groom each other and sleep together. I am very happy! Another note is that the older gerbil was the dominant one from the previous pair, so it's not impossible to make this work!

Good to hear that it went well! You're lucky that it worked that fast! Not everyone can say the same thing! ;D

When Gerbils 'Box', What exactly are they doing? I picture them using their hind legs...cuz they're big...like Kangaroos...Kangaroos use their feet, right? Wait..let me shutup.

Like these kangaroos: They box with their front paws, not with their hind feet, like kangaroos sometimes do!
