I posted in another thread about my new 8? week old that I put in with my 3 adult males. They're getting along fine and the mounting has pretty much stopped. I recently added in my 5 male pups. So yeah, I now have 9 males in a 10 gallon tank. I wanted to make sure they were getting along fine before moving them somewhere bigger. They're all fine, no problems. But he still seems like such a loner! Even at the petstore, he kind of kept to himself in the plastic house and ran on the wheel a little. He sleeps with and grooms the others. Sometimes he joins the nest, other times the nest goes to him. Most of the time he sleeps alone! I put in a new good sized box with some toilet paper. He slept with them once! Then went to his own little corner..alone.. Doesn't care if anyone goes up to him or not. Definatley does not seem sick. I've kept big clans before.. And this is the first time ever I've seen a gerbil keep to himself and sleep alone like this.. The other boys aren't like this and neither are the 6 girls I have together. It's sad seeing him by himself in a corner.

Are you sure she isn't sick?
Gerbils have different characters, so some are shy, while other not, etc. Maybe he is just a loner, but probably he will interact a bit more with the rest when they live together for a longer while!
