My male gerbil which is a red eyed white i believe from reading about the colour posts. Seems to have i thought a balance problem or it could be from a long habit in gerbils ancestor's , He has this funny swaying from left to right, he does this when hes on his back legs and standing up right, and looking about Its funny to watch but I'm just wanting to make sure if that its normal or if anyone had a gerbil doing this?.. Its like hes in a trance and you know when snakes attack small rodents they hypnotize them before a strike or what not LOL.. but it does remind me of this. So does anyone have any idea about this?. My female does not do this..

That is completely normal. Gerbils with red eyes do not have as good of vision as black-eyed gerbils. Many red-eyed gerbils thus do this swaying that you are talking about in an attempt to focus better. My red-eyed gerbil does this fairly often and the first couple of times it really shocked me!

That swaying is normal for red eyed gerbils! Many of those red eyed gerbils don't see as good as black eyed gerbils or are even blind! Other rodent do that too! And even blind humans will sometimes sway their head! But it is no problem! Gerbils that don't see very well and even totally blind gerbils can live very normal! Some people don't even know if their gerbil is blind! They have a VERY good smell!
