Hey gang! Okay... another newbie question for y'all. As I've mentioned in other threads, we have a new litter of pups. It's our first litter. I haven't been able to reliably sex them all, but we have seven pups, at least two are female. We'd been planning to keep this litter, and seperate all the boys and girls into seperate homes. (Any further litter(s) will not be staying with us...) However, I'm nervous as I hear you guys talk about "declanning" and fights and such. So I'm wondering about how many gerbs can co-exist with one another? (I know that females tend to be territorial.) Any advice would be appreciated!

From what I know, I'd say that you probably won't have any trouble. If they're all from the same litter then they should do just fine together. However...I'm not very knowledgeable about that sort of thing, so don't take my word for it.

Males can be kept in larger groups in general, but nobody can guarantee that they won't have any problems in the future. Females tend to have more problems when kept in groups larger tha 2.
But I think you won't have any problems. I have had several groups of 3 males and 3 females, even 4 males at one time. And I have had never had serious problems.
If I were you, I would just separate them into two groups! Those problems usually start when they have to fight over a mate, when they are equally strong, and in very large cages!

Thanks for the info! Peter, we'll stick with our plan to keep all of our gerbs into two groups. We just need to buy bigger tanks for everyone now. Just hoping we have a roughly even mix of males and females. (Or at least MORE males than females.)
