Hey everyone,
I was just wondering...I know your *supposed* to stick to pairs with females, but if I was to leave two daughters with their mother, do you think they would do ok?
Also, I would *like* to introduce a young (six week) female to an older (6 month) female. Do you think this would be alright?

As for the female threesome, it may work. I think people have had success keeping the mom and more than one pup in the same tank. I certainly wouldn't try it if the pups were from different litters. Is the female gerbil aggressive, or quite calm? You will have better luck if she is more accepting.
I've split an older and younger female a couple of times. The only problem I've had is when the younger gerbil reached 5-6 months old. The older gerbil in one instance wound up starting a *huge* ball fight and I had to seperate them. I re-split them for about a week and now everything is fine. If you hear lots of squeaking, or see lots of mounting, just watch them carefully in the days after to make sure they don't fight.

i have three sisters in the same tank, it's fine so far but they're not even three months yet plus the tank is quite big! i'm also trying to introduce 2 females from a different litter to each other and well, it's not going too badly, but i definitely wouldn't keep more than two females from seperate litters in the same cage.

I have 2 sisters (we think) and another female in my gerbil house. We think the 2 are sisters, or categorize them as sisters because the day they came to the pet store they were together. It has all worked out really well, except a few small scrathing here and there.

No no, It's alright guys, my gerbils are already together. I didn't end up introducing her to the 6 week old female. I introduced her to a1 year old female. They're the two I used the water method for. They're doing great.
