Last week in one tank I had a box like 3 inches away from the top. Their dish was on top of it. They ate most of their food and then started using the dish as a bathroom. I cleaned the dish, refilled it, and then they started using the top of the box next to the dish for a bathroom. Um ok. Now, my other tank of boys are doing it.. and they have a huge sandbox (cleaned daily) also at the top of the tank.... lol. um ok. Anyone else ever notice this ?

J,
I notice mine pooping where ever the scent is. For example, I left the sand dish on the box. Well when I moved the dish to clean it, Bear pooped on the box. Then the sand dish was knocked over in the middle of the night and the next morning, poop on the box. I think that they tend to "mark" with thier feces. They like dogs who pee to mark, poop to "freshen" the scent marking.

Does that mean they're marking me as their own, too? LOL Each time I hold the adults, they turn into pooping machines! Thank God it comes out dry! Seriously, I've noticed the same behavior. We have a "log cabin" in there and the adults stand on top of it to poop and pee. I figured they did it there so the rest of the tank doesn't get nasty as fast. I just take it out once a day (or more if needed) and wash it off with soap and water, dry it and put it back on. 'Course it's gonna be a moot point soon, since they're steadily whittling the darned thing away!
