Hi
I have 2 gerbils(females) Named ginger and cinnamin. I was wondering if I could add 2 more females. I have a 40 gallon breeder tank, so thats why i thought I would add them some company.

you shouldnt have a group of females as the will fight if your keeping females keep them in two because it rarely works with a group as they are very territorial. Cant you keep them in twos? ;D

I agree with Pixy, though I can't say that becase I am trying to introduce a baby male to my adults. But you could get them a male, and split cage them.............. ooooh! Puppies! ;D

2 things intros in adult females are very difficult, and more than two even harder females will happily live in colonies once established BUT declanning is more common in female colonies trio breeding is fraught with all sorts of possible problems and best avoided.
darn that was 3 things lol

I agree that it is best to keep them in pairs. Trying to introduce them will likely result in serious fights, and possibly the death of one of your gerbils.

I agree that you should keep the pairs separate. You will more likely cause yourself and the gerbils more stress and harm unless you keep the breeding pairs separate. You could split tank the 2 pairs in the 40 gallon if necessary!!
