I have a Question about the split cage method.
on site's there always talking about the split cage method so i know how and for how long 2 do it but can't you introduce one Gerb right away and see how it go's.
for example:
you have 2 Gerbs of say 15 weeks old and you want to introduce a Gerb of 6 weeks can't you just try putting him in and see what they do?
is this possible couse there all yough and male?

Because they are quite young, it is certainly possible (esp. since they are male). You can try it either with or without the split cage divider. Just be prepared to separate them if they start to fight later on in life. Often, the gerbils may get along great until the youngest hits sexual maturity, and then you have fighting for dominance (about 4-9 months).

Hey Arne,
I had 2 males about 15-20 weeks and introduced another male pup who was about 8 weeks. I did it on the same day. I guess it is wise to keep the new pup separated for a few days (quarentine) to ensure it is not sick then do the introduction.
I put them in a big rubbermaid tub with lots of tubes and toys. I put the pup in first so that he could get used to the area then I put the 2 older males in. The older males were excited and ran around for a bit until they noticed the little one. They then chased him to sniff him. the little one was scared and hid in a tube. There was a lot of squeaking from the young one but there was no aggression from any of them.
I did take him out after I found a mate. He was out before he reached sexual maturity so I can't say if the trio would have worked for the duration.
