There are other threads about this topic, but gerbils will wrestle and chase a little bit just to play. At least mine do, and I've read other people say that too. I've also read that if they roll into a fighting ball, they will kill each other. I've never seen it.

Hello Ray, Fighting usually consists of squeaking, chasing, rolling into a ball, boxing. There are different levels of fighting. There are tiffs which are usually just frustration or dominance or there are to the death fights.
Keep an eye on the gerbils. If they are consistently chasing, boxing, or squeaking than also check to see if they are grooming each other or sleeping together. The last two behaviors are indicators that they are okay.
Warning: Gerbils will fight to the death so if you are concerned, or see bite marks on the neck or genital area, I would separate them.
