Introducing such an young female to an older male, will result in a very young pregnent girl! Best to wait a bit longer in my opinion. Until the female is fully grown. Pups and nursing will need a lot of the energy she still need to grow up.

By then , my male will be ard 5 mth ... Is it ok ? Btw , Will it be difficult to intro her to him ? 'Cos the male is currently living with his brother . I am afraid if he has bonded with his brother . How

Do you have any way to rig up a split cage? This way they can get to know each other for a while, and they can "talk" and sniff and do gerbily things through the wire mesh. Plus that should make it easier to put them together, since it would be like she already lived with him, but now they can actually TOUCH each other! OR Do you have a play pen type area? If you take your gerbils out every day to play, then you could introduce them now, but be SUPER careful to make sure he doesn't mount her. If you let them play together every day, they should remember each other, and then one day, when she's ready, you won't have to seporate them after playing. That's my advice. Good luck! He probably has bonded with his brother, and It may or may not be hard for the brother to live alone once the prospective father goes to do his fatherly duties. But again, you can let them play, and that way, when you split the breeding pair, the brothers still are farmiliar with each other. Suposidly the memory of a gerbil is only like 72 hrs, but I split my breeding pair nearly 2 weeks ago, and tried to pair her with another male, she had a huge fit about it! But when I put her old mate in there, she ran over to him and started licking his chin, and stuffing her face under his chest. (which are 2 things they always did as a couple! Of course, different gerbils present different cases, so nobody can tell you for sure what will happen. You've read up on breeding? Make sure you research it a lot. I've already had my 2nd litter, and I'm still learning lots of things. And the one thing that everyone should know, is WHAT WORKS FOR ONE GERBIL, WON'T ALWAYS WORK FOR THE NEXT! ;D

I don't think you should have much trouble introducing a Male and Female together, I've never heard or any 'bad' male to female intros.
Don't split cage unless it's JUST the male on one side and female on teh other, if you split cage brothers with the female, the brothers will most likely declan. Do you have a buddy yet for the brother to live with? Is there a reason you want to pair these two up?

Hey Shan,
You can split cage them like Ritzie said and also like Andrea said it is best to have a 1 on 1 split cage.
Ideal age for a female to start mating is 9 months to a year.
