Connor was a gerbil I brought home a few weeks home due to him being very sick £30 worth of vet bills and some TLC later, he's so much better now.
His twin brother (them both being pied/spotted doves) was left on his own on Sunday when someone bought the other littermate. So I brought him home (and named him Farrell).
They're split caged at the moment. They seem to be fine when theyre in the cage, theres no squeaking or aggressive behaviour. I took them out today and yesterday and let them run around a bit with each other and although it was mostly fine, Farrell would sometimes run up to Connor and sniff him and Connor adapts the sort of "stance" they do before they start rolling around in a ball
I'm presuming this isn't because theyre used to each other yet and I'm going to leave them in the split cage still but how long do you think they will need? Should I let them run around together or simply leave them?
EDIT; A customer bought Farrell's brother Sunday. He didn't get along with her two gerbils she currently had, even though I told her there was no guarantee they'd get along and gave her all this advice.
Anyway, she came back into the pet shop yesterday ( I wasnt there) and my colleague/friend told her that I'd taken his brother home to introduce to my current one. Anyway, this woman left her number with my friend and now wants to know if I will sell my gerbils to her if they don't get along (like I'm really going to sell my animals to her!!)
thats beside the point- but now I feel bad- Farrell and his brother were really well bonded! considering its only been 48 hours since they were seperated, they could still get along if I took him? But then would they still go with Connor??
