Hey everyone!
I've noticed for a while now that sometimes Cloud, my REW, seems to sway back and forth when he's just sitting in his cage. Is this a balance problem or is he trying to see me better through the cage? He seems fine in every other respect and I'm not really worried, but I was wondering if this is a common thing that gerbils do. Thanks for any input!

A lot of red-eyed gerbils do this to help them focus. They have less acute vision than the black-eyed gerbils.

This also happens in many red eyed white animals. I used to breed rabbits, and the REW's also did this. I was never really sure why they did it, but its kind of funny to watch.

It's quite simple really they're eye sight is poor so they sway in an attempt to get a better image

OK, I thought that I might have heard that red-eyed rats sway as well for this reason so that makes sense. Thanks for the info!
