At the time this list was stickied it was a useful guide but it does contain some things unsuitable for gerbils. Ed has posted this link on GSUK to a preview of his new website and I would certainly recommend all gerbil owners to read it. It's quite long and text-heavy so do take your time and maybe even come back later and reread so you don't miss things! I know I will www.sensi-media.com/gerbil/domestic.htm ;D

Some like it others don't Mine don't I bunged a bit in and it had gone rather 'limp' by the next day and the girls hadn't touched it... Caroline

can gerbils have the seeds that are found in watermelon or would these be best avoided?

Hi, Theyre fine! and they are a good source of Phosphorus, Zinc and Manganese, and a very good source of Magnesium for your gerbils Eddie

Does anyone know about Niger Seeds? We've got a big bag for the goldfinches in the garden, I was wondering if the gerbils would benefit from them...?

i think it's important to understand what's bad for them rather than what they'll eat, as mine would eat just about anything. I'm surprised to see chocolate on the bad list as you can buy choc raisins for gerbs and hamsters in pet shops. Bit worried about the avocado bit too as i give that to mine. thanks
