They are all adorable I keep changing my mind, as to which one appeals to me personally the most. Lyd

Wow lots of babies! I really like the Topaz. Is November a better breeding time for gerbils or something? (thinks about all of Crazycritter's litters too)

I guess so. I've had a lot of first time moms give birth, and also one pair that hadn't bred ever and are getting on (heck, I thought they were sterile) have pups too. So there ya go. Fortunately I'm having a lot of demand this month.

Oh goodness! They are cute!!! My female had a litter just a couple days before yours, but since none of them survived, I have wondered what they might have looked like by now. I'm glad to look at yours... they certainly are adorable!

When I see these pups, I really want to start breeding again! Maybe over one year when I graduate and hopefully have a job! ;D

I just noticed that little spotted lilac male doesn't have a neck spot at all. It makes him kinda interesting! I gotta say spotted lilacs do have an appeal... For sure keeping the nice plain (unspotted) Colourpoint Agouti female and the Burmese male. I'm hoping to find a nice dove sooner or later so I can breed some Siamese. I'm in hopes!!! By the way, my hubby just updated our system and so I lost my old password and identity (silly me didn't write it down) maybe you guys can do a little tweak for me on the number of posts thing?

we have just had a population expolision .. piper had 4 pup two weeks ago. Maddie had 5 pups on thursday and now Martys wife (i forgot what we decided to call her ) has just had 4 babies - her first litter, although i have a sneaky suspicion they are a bit early as she had them on bonfire night when all the fireworks were going off. They are a little small but seem to be doing well. Andrea

Hey, thanks, guys. I've got another couple of smaller litters I'm waiting for fuzz so I can photograph too. There are some lovely pieds in them. And a couple pups are lighter--maybe my first grey agouti, I hope, I hope!!!

More pups born: Mountain Dew and McFarlane had 7, but 2 were stillborn. There are some very interesting colours, a very light pied agouti and 2 very dark agoutis (one almost mottled) and a very lovely black mottled! The whole litter, pigment stage: Then Hope and Jasper had a small litter, here are the pieds from it (they had a nice black pup too):

They are gorgeous! Is there usually that much variation between agouti coats?

No. This is the first time I've seen an agouti that dark. I know that an agouti that carries a recessive a gene will have darker ticking, and an agouti that carries recessive e gene will be more "golden" but this seems to be significantly darker. Maybe its a new gene. I will breed them and find out. What fun!

Wow, They are gorgeous and you take the best pictures !! I am anxiously awaiting my litter . I can't wait ;D. I will have to keep you on speed dial LOL. I love the picture of the fat pups and the little runty one!! How adorable. How many gerbils do you have including pups? How do you adopt them out? How many breeding pair? Do you change the breeding pairs? Or do you just breed different ones? I am amazed at the color variations!! It is all humbling and makes me realize how inexperienced I am at the time being!! I will learn through experience!
