This is the current set, the bottom replaces the plastic bottom from a large gerbilarium, so used the topper from that for now until i can get time to build the new one. its a 200l tank thats 100*40*50 to us metric people. they were up all night playing in this bad boy!

Yeh, the boys love it when i put a toilet roll tube on it then they run threw it a few times before the destruction comes!
Working on a topper currently to fit the tank, there is so much space the boys were up hugely late and then slept most of yesterday from being so exhausted from exploring!

So I picked up shredded paper bedding and it ended up making the cage look like Mardi Gras barfed all over my gerbidoos ~____~ so I got some paper-ball stuff to add to it. It's quite an odd mixture but they've enjoyed making tunnels all over the place.

I finally took some pictures of my 20 gallon tank. The bedding has been in there for about 2 weeks. It is aspen, carefresh, timothy hay and lots of chewed up cardboard, which has been adding up every day. Their silent spinner wheel is wired onto a crate that has holes in the end. under the crate is their hide and it is chewed up but they love it. Also buried is a cardboard drink holder and a thick cardboard tube and a wooden bendy bridge that is bent into a tube. There are also some chewy pine items, which they love. Leela in their hanging basket. This is where their food dish is. Amy on the wheel, they love it but not as much as chewing, digging and rearranging their tank. It's kind of a mess, I will do more pics when I refill the tank. I think it goes through so many changes day to day. Each time I change their bedding, about every three weeks, I change up where their hanging basket goes. I am ordering the Jotco tank topper today and I will post more pics then. I cant wait to have a permanent place for their sand bath (I just offer it a few times a week and remove it) and kitchen.

I think it's darn near impossible to get a photo of a gerbil tank without it instantly looking like a horrific mess! I remember when I had a red eared slider and my mother always got on my case about the tank being filthy, no matter how much I tried to explain that animals are messy she just couldn't believe me. So one day I made her watch me do my weekly tank cleaning and the next day it was already messy again! Baby turtles have no respect I redid the gerbil tank in a 'minimalist' style and totally stole Nathans idea of using cardboard as a divider. I like to occasionally add and remove pieces of their 'furniture' to make sure they have plenty to do and don't get bored of things. For right now their food, treats, and wheel are on the right side and they have some wooden tunnels, a nesting hut, their wooden bridge thingy, and some cardboard tubes. Most of which is hidden under the bedding >> but i swear it's in there somewhere. It looks like someone had a birthday in the gerbil tank

Thank you! I have my doubt that cardboard will last long xD But it's nice while it lasts!

emmers, I just really like the divider idea, you could even do it with wood, but the cardboard is awesome too. If I didn't splurge and buy a topper for my 20 gal tank I think I would do this too. It has always been a challenge to keep their water bottle and wheel unburied.

Just finished setting up Kyo and Yuki's new 75 gallon tank. Took longer than I thought and a bit more money than I had planned, but they are worth it. This was their old set up. And this is their new home

75 gallons?! I have envy of such a huge gerbillarium! My gerbils are in a 20 high right now.

These are my two tanks They're 20 US gallons (Bo & Pip) and 39 US gallons (Olly) - I had to separate my boys due to fighting, and currently Olly has the big set-up all to himself because he's always so hyperactive and uses every inch of it! He runs miles in his wheel and I'm sure he's trying to dig to China. My other boys are much more sleepy and are quite happy just stretching their legs around the 20g. Here they're pretty tidy right after a clean out - normally look a catastrophe! I'm in the UK and use Carefresh or Tumblefresh natural bedding (tumblefresh here) with hay to help their tunnels hold and a bit of soft paper bedding for them to pull into their nest. I've started on quite a natural theme recently, and tried these pieces of aquarium driftwood which they loooove clambering over and wearing their teeth down on. Sometimes I hide raisins or dried mealworms in the knots for them to forage out. Otherwise it's coconut hides, edible alfalfa logs, wooden huts and playstick domes making chambers for them to discover when they get digging. Hoping to get a wooden stick bridge soon to replace Olly's wire ladder.

My setups are still a work in progress, as I am just learning ways to fix it up properly to a gerbil's liking. Here is what I have done so far. The girls The boys Both
