99% Sure that's a girl! Congrats, and she's beautiful, btw. Beautiful demarcation line. Start taking pics of her now so you can enter her next year in the Virtual Show!! :-D yay! I hope someone else can confirm that other 1%. I can finally pair up my lone female Sharkey. She certainly is a beautiful gerbil I'm definitely going to take more pics because she has such a fluffy tail tuft that I must share! ;D ;D

I'm pretty sure this is a boyo, but I'm not 100% sure!

This thread is coming up at a perfect time for me. When I got my gerbils back in March I was told they were three females. Shortly after that came my first experience of sexing them myself. The other day I discovered that I'd made a mistake. It seems so long but now is when she is old enough to have pups. Not sure if she will but it won't suprise me if she does. I had to move her into a small plastic storage container for a few days. It would have been longer but today I found a cage at a thrift store. True, it is a cage but much better and bigger than what she was in. I guess I'll find out sometime next month if she is having pups. And I'm so scared because next week is when I will have to sex the second litter (they'll be 5 weeks Monday.) and I really hope I do it right this time.
Glad this thread is started again.

Gah, I feel stupid asking this after having my gerbils for two years! I was told at the pet store that they were both females when I got them. I've tried to sex them myself countless times, because I never trust pet stores, but I seriously can't tell. haha. I'm asuming they ARE both females, for the fact there has been no obvious man parts, and no pups in the two years I've had them. But today they care for nothing but 'mating'. They don't even care about the toilet paper tubes I gave them, and that's usually tore apart in the first few second of being in their cage. So I find it a little odd, and am again questioning it. I took a picture of each. Maybe you guys can ease my mind a little and tell me if they are in fact females! Gah. I feel dirty for taking those pictures.. LOL And so it's not all just that. Some cuteness:

I'm pretty sure they are girls! The 'mating' wasnt mating. When a female go's in they will sometimes mate their cage mate My females do it when they are in heat.

Hello there! I'm very happy I found this board, I have 3 new gerbils and they're all supposed to be boys, but I'm not sure about one of them. Here are some pictures: His brother from the same nest and his older brother from a previous nest are obviously boys. So could this one be just a little tiny? I hope you can help me, because if it's a girl I need to get her out of that cage asap!
