Hello I am Cookies and cream from the past but decided on a name when I get to join. ;D I think I am gonna be able to use this REALLY DEEP BOX when we know we can trust the thing inside not to break but I am not sure what to put in it, My list currently is TP rolls Paper towel roles empty tape roll the extra card packaging, I want some other stuff to keep them busy as I dont have a tank as I didnt know about all of this stuff before I got the unit and it is a rotastak but I maximise the fun of it by filling one side of the bottom with about 5 iof bedding and the top nest about 4 inches. I play with them everyday for about 2 hours and they each get 15mins in the ball every 2-3 days. They are very happy and one is fully tame and the other one is on his way. ;D I love them to pieces and want them to be happy ;D ;D THey are about 16 weeks old??? ( born around 1st July) Thanks ;D ;D

Get two cereal boxes or more and make a 2 story house by cutting a hole in the floor of the top one and then stuff it with shredded paper. Scatter tp roles and treats inside , they will have great fun !

Once I had a HUGE box, it was about a yard by half a yard and about 6 inch high. I collected smaller boxes which would fit In the big box then putting them next to each other I cut holes on them so if one gerbil went from one box, ended up In the next and so on. So it was more like a maze. It was a success needless to say. I don't know, or remember, how big your rotastac is but I know they are too small and crowding it with more stuff is not a good Idea. They may be happy now but once the dominance Issues will start you may have lots of problems, maybe even declanning. If you want a great pressie for them for Christmas, might as well save up for a tank or a big plastic storage tub, and they surely will be the happiest gerbils

a 20 gallon tall tank /should/ easily fit in there :/ If I'm not mistaken. Build yourself some levels and voila- perfect gerbil tank

Emmy I have the pets at home gerbilarium and my trio love it, you need to put lots of digging material in the bottom bit for them. I'll post some pics of how I set mine up to give them maximum usage of the space, not tonight though. I'll take some tomorrow

Thanks cheekygerbils I really want whats best for my boys ;D they are fine and love the rotostak right now but I HATE the water bottle as it has a preset place and it is real low so I have to have shallow bedding (1cm) that side and slope in up steepish to 4inches roughly They also cover it so cant access it Cant wait to see the photos

Also don't forget Emmy that you could get a fish tank that isn't watertight at a good price but I think with your space limits a tank and topper could be one of the best option

I did have a couple fish in the past and present one in the past lived for like 5-7 years (standard goldfish) and the tank is gone but was very tiny. the ones now obviously need the tank lol ;D but anyway it is a biorb that homes 8. Also my P@H isnt very helpful so they dont have many big enough fish tanks I think the topper would be good as they like to be interacted with a lot Also what is the water bottle that comes with it like?? DO you think they will need a wheel? they have one now but have never used it and it has been there since I got them (over 11 weeks ago) as it is attached ;D

The water bottle is great, I've never had any problems. I wouldn't put a wheel in, it takes up too much space. In the tank part I have lots of hay, woodshavings and toilet roll (for bedding), underneath the hay and straw I have an old coffee tin (the metal type with coffee written on the outside) and all the carboard I can find. First Floor they just have their foodbowl and water bottle (you could scatter feed them if you want and could do without the foodbowl). Top Floor I have an empty jam jar, they use this as a toilet (I take it out every day and clean it). I also bought a couple of the little wooden ledges from P@H and added them and I cut a long strip of cardboard and slide it through to make another little platform. I just tried to make as much use of the space as possible. Here are some photos, I will try to take some better ones tomorrow In the photo they have their sandbath dish in the top floor as well, they only have this in for a couple of hours once a week or so. This photo shows you the piece of cardboard slid through and the wooden ledge from P@H. I have other wooden toys that I change about and I put them on either level

Thanks the pics are brill, the bedding I have and will probably use as I still have loads ;D Carefresh confetti lavender woodshavings, that isnt actually scented it is made 'beleiveable' by the purple shavings sacttered in, luckily I only got it as purple is my fave colour ;D I wanted to know about the water bottle as I didnt want to get home and for it not to work and go all the way back again to get one (it is only 5mins drive down a main road but my dad hates the store as I spend hours ) I havent used sand yet but I will get some when they start to feel and look greasy. Another reason for the change is that I want to get loads more toys for them ;D ;D ;D Thanks (might take them out for a 20min tub run (Cookies First, Creams Second time ;D)
