I'm pretty sure the process of making the cheese destroys or converts the lactose, so I don't believe that's an issue (do confirm that though), but yes it is a fatty food. I'll check out the links later, looking forwards to it Btw, re Grapes, is that one they're not supposed to eat? Or was that one of the old wives tales??

Ahh ok! No I wasn't sure, it's probably fine.
I'm not *really* sure. I've seen websites say no cucumber too but i think it's just because it's watery and you can give it but only in small amounts. I've never personally given my gerbils grapes so I haven't done loads of research on them for gerbils. Hm...

Hard cheese like cheddar is almost lactose free so it's safe for gerbils and Tokyo looks like she could use the extra fat and protein.

Idk:)) They love to stay in the tube and sometimes they fell asleep. Tokyo looks a little tired, maybe because the pups are very active during the day and she prefers to sleep 🙃 I still didn’t see her using the wheel, is it normal or she’s using it in the night?

She might be using it in the night, or she just might be too tired! . With my boys, Avon starts using it from about 6pm on, Blake typically not until a few hrs later, and both up to about 5-6am, or whenever it is they go to sleep!

The black spot has to do with the coat color, not the sex. The pups you've labeled Argente here are actually Dark-Eyed Honey; the ones you've labeled honey are the Argentes. Hazel's pups are a mix of Nutmeg (dark eyes and ears) and Saffron (red eyes and pink ears like mom), which makes sense because dad is a Nutmeg.

I’m still thinking Thea, keeping a girl for each of them or reunite Tokyo with Hazel and keep a boy and maybe buy another male? I’m not so sure yet, we’ll see. I wanted to ask you, what kind of fresh food do you feed your gerbils. I just prepared them some salad, red pepper, oat flakes, some seed mix, a little cheese, grapes and dried integral bread. Are these ingredients ok for them? I made a photo with their bowls. ibb.co/GH708pSibb.co/XY3DgjY I’ll also try to show the people that gerbils are such great animals amd they aren’t what they think they are, smaller rats who bite you🙂 Don't forget it's been strongly advised to keep Tokyo and Hazel apart from now on. I know it might seem sad not to reunite them, but it isn't worth the risk when you will hopefully have a much easier option to keep a pup with each of the girls, providing they have a female in each litter. It is amazing how little people know about gerbils. I think they have the best temperament and wish more people knew that. I hope you find some amazing homes for the littleness when the time comes.

Thank you guys, I really messed up with the colors:)) Hope they’ll have a great home like they do now. Today I totally forgot to take them photo, growing every day and they actually started eating🥰 I’ll cheer you up with some photos tomorrow

Btw, about that wheel, it isn't really suitable for gerbils (or likely any rodent), the mesh could cause bumble foot (although gerbils are apparently less likely to suffer from this than other rodents, it's still a possibility), but a greater risk is they could snag they feet or toes in it, if this happens when they are running fast that could cause some real nasty injuries. Another bad design point of that wheel is the open sides of the wheel to the axles with the brace going across, although the axles go straight out from the wheel hub for a bit before going up (so at least they're out of the way for any gerbil jumping onto a moving wheel and their is some gap between brace and axle support), if a gerbil gets thrown out of a wheel when running really fast (I've seen that happen on a few occasions with my boys), and if they get thrown out through the top part of the wheel just when the brace comes close to an axle support it could squash them between the brace and axle support (a scissoring action), which would give nasty injuries..... Granted it's an unlikely set of events to cause that, (and presumably it hasn't happened yet), but with a solid wheel it just can't happen. Personally I'd be ditching that wheel.

I agree with Mark, I don't think that wheel should be used as the risks are pretty high even if you haven't had any problems so far.
On another note - adorable gerbils!! <3
