Thankfully its an inside wall! But I should probably think through taking off my closet a little bit more… By the way! Thanks so much for that video of you weighing Blake!! Super helpful! Although,I was only able to weigh S'more (92 grams), Snickerdoodle is a little rascal. Of course she wouldn't go up on the scale to get her treat! She'd just steal her sister's… I'll keep working with her! Actually not sure if they are sisters… When I bought them at Pet Smart, their tank said " Bonded pair cannot be separated" I only assumed they were from the same litter!

No probs, he's a funny little chap, thought it might make people laugh as well as showing how I weigh him . Can you put the scales somewhere where you can do the gerbils one at a time, so that SDoodle can't steal her sisters treat?

I would do that, although since Snickerdoodle isn’t good with me yet I thought she might be freaked out if alone!

I took the doors off the closet and put the gerbil tank in there. It works well, but none of the concerns other people mention were a problem in that room. The air circulates well and the temperature is stable. I also dont have any clothes or other items being stored in that closet, its just used as a gerbil alcove. Heres an old photo. My tank set up has changed a bit.

Hey! Just wondering will LED lights hurt gerbils? Especially if they are flashing?

Hmm, I find that led lights sometimes hurt my eyes as I have some but don’t use them anymore. I’m not sure if this would be a problem to their eyes but I personally wouldn’t use them.

Ok sounds good, I wouldn’t want to cause a seizure or anything like that

Ok I’ve moved the gerbils to the closet! Taking the doors off were much easier than I expected! The LED are on the outside of the door frame, so not easily seen from inside the closet!! I finally bought a glass water bottle after the absolute destruction of their second bottle. The only problem is, the new bottle is quite a big longer. I am constantly trying to dig it out from the bedding, I also bought one of those bendable wood “bridges” to try to separate the bottle from bedding. I know, I know, a cage topper is the best solution. Right now I’m not able to get a hold of a topper for reasons I don’t care to go into! (Mainly because it would take too long!) Any sort of separator available in pet stores, or able to be made at home? Also are the pet “logs” available at Pet Smart safe? I believe they are made with Timothy Hay?

Bendy bridges make good separators, you could also use a piece of gerbil safe wood or cardboard. Not exactly sure what your set up looks like, but a platform might be an idea as well. Or try to get a smaller water bottle. I think mine is 8 oz? I don’t think you can get much smaller than that if you’re looking for glass.
Which logs are you looking at? They have some that are woven hay, and those are fine. They also have some that are pressed hay and are made with honey, I would avoid these. Cork logs are also great for gerbils, they often sell these in the reptile section.
