Because you want a quick response and I'm not sure on the answer - I'd take it out if I were you until you do get an answer just to be safer also, is the amount they chewed off so much that they can't run on it any more?

I have the same wheel and they don’t chew it. Take it out for now so they don’t eat any more. They are probably just bored. You should buy more chews and hides for your gerbils. I got a cork log for them and they love it. It is a great hide and they can also chew it. I also got a ceramic tunnel from Niteangel and they like going through it. Seems like they are just bored. You can always get a wooden wheel so it is okay if they chew it but they might chew it so much that it is not usable.

So deliveries take awile to get to my house. Suggestions of how to keep them busy? Should I also take them out more? They are getting a lot more tame.

You should take them out more often. Maybe every other day? You also can make some toys with paper towel or toilet rolls. There are so many things you can make just be creative.

Ok! It’s this gerbil approved? Egg carton stuffed with toilet paper with 4 raisins in 4 of the holes. The raisins are rolled up tightly in TP as well

That’s 100% safe. Just make sure that the carton has no stickers.

They don’t! And my gerbils... LOVED IT!! Pepped them right up! I will definitely be making these more often but maybe with less raisins or none at all. The carton was done in 30 min! Tomorrow I will do some playtime in the tub, maybe I’ll put their wheel in and I can supervise... Speaking of playtime! I have a smaller than average wood flooring hallway( might have mentioned it at the very beginning of this thread) and they have gone in it once before. They loved it!!! But it was a little hard to round them back up. I might try that again, but I’ll put a raisin in their jar to get them back. My question about this is, do I have to sanitize the floor and stuff after I’m done. It’s doable but not exactly going to be enjoyable. ( Thank you Pipsqueak! All your help with my gerbils has been AWESOME!)

I would sweep before so they don’t eat anything that they shouldn’t but as long as your not eating off of your floor or something you won’t have to clean it. If you ever have too much of a problem getting them back into their cage then you can always leave their bag of food open and wait for them to crawl in. This is only a thing to do if you really can’t get them in but it will work. Gerbils are very food driven so if you ever have any trouble use food in some way.

Ok! I don’t eat off my floor so I should be fine! Maybe I just overthink it but, if you walk on the dirty floor, then walk around your house, then get in bed, then your gerbil germs would be all over your bed..... I told you I overthink things!!

So they would like the hallway much better than the bathtub right?

If it makes you feel better clean it. The bathtub would be easier since you won’t have to clean but the hallway seems like it would be bigger so they might like that better. You can always alternate where they go.
