I've found I have a insect problem in my bedroom. The little bugs are biting me in my sleep... and I'm starting to get creeped out. I have cleaned my room multiple times and they come back. No-- there isn't a way I could seal my room. I really want to get rid of the bugs, but I don't want to hurt my gerbils and hamster. I've done a lot of research but most of it justs end up in "how to get rid of rodents in your home", which is obviously not what I'm going for. Does anybody have any suggestions on natural bug repellent?

Maybe try some flypaper? I have some in my room for the tiny gnats who like my plants and quite a lot of them get stuck. I'm not sure how a gerbil could get stuck or eat it if you just hung it somewhere not too close to them.

Are these flying bugs (like moths or flies) or creeping bugs (like beetles or lice)? If it's bed bugs (which they could be if they're biting you in your sleep), they're fairly resistant to chemical measures anyway and the best approach is to hot wash all the bedding and other fabrics in the room, and vacuum or even steam clean the carpet.
You could also try diatomaceous earth which is supposed to be quite good for insect infestations. People use it on carpets I think. Don't let the gerbils near it at all as as it's harmful if inhaled (the same goes for you - wear a dust mask when using it) but I think if their cage is kept well out of the way and perhaps covered it should be ok.
If they're biting you it could also be fleas or mites. The gerbils themselves or their cage may be harbouring these bugs so a full cage clean might be in order, and look out for signs the gerbils are infested such as scratching, sores, fur loss. Some bugs come from pet food or hay so if possible replace those or at least freeze them for a couple of weeks. Freezing may not always kill eggs though.

Ditto to what LilyandDaisy said. If you have bedbugs, they can be difficult to eradicate; in addition to the bedding, they hide in cracks and crevices in the walls/windows as well as in the joints of furniture.

Yeah definitely identify what kind of bug it is, and then you'll be better able to make a plan to deal with it.
Let us know what you figure out.

They are like pincher bugs and spiders (weird combo I know)

For those of us in the UK, pincher bugs are commonly known as earwigs.
Have you managed to get rid of them?

I vacuumed so most of them are gone. I was concerned that some of them might have gotten into my gerbil's tanks, but when I changed them there was nothing there. So yes, I mostly have gotten rid of them.

Oh man. Earwigs are some of the grossest bugs. Fact.
I'm glad you got rid of them.

Lol, I don't think they're that bad (outside anyway), I think cockroaches are far worse! Not that I've seen any.

If you really want to be creeped out Google giant wetas. They are only found in New Zealand.

Holy sh**! They're massive! But they don't creep me out , quite amazing actually, insects don't generally bother me, unless they get near my food of course!
