It's unusual to see tailed sheep nowadays. I remember climbing a hill in either Yorkshire or Wales (can't remember which) a few years ago and at the top there were semi-wild sheep which used to wait around for people's lunch leftovers. I think they were very well fed by all the hikers.

Oh no! That is quite funny, do you think their names will be changed? I had a friend who got her budgie's genders the wrong way round too, but she kept the names.

elsaandanna Very cute! I had two gerbils arrive today to stay for 3 weeks while their owners are on holiday. They're called Lily and Daisy, which was interesting enough. But after I put them in their tank I noticed something odd about "Daisy's" back end. Yes, they were testicles. I got very worried and checked "Lily" but was relieved to find "she" also had a set of testicles. So now I have to break it to the owners that their gerbils are not in fact girls! doh! And what are the chances of 2 other gerbils having the same name! At least they are the same sex!

I havent been on here in 4-6 weeks (I bought a house & moved. btw, moving a bunch of large, heavy animal enclosures is not a fun thing to do) but now I'm back and catching up and commenting on all your threads!

Chinchilla is good. Hes getting so social, he likes to sit on my shoulder. He didnt want to come out of his cage for 5 days after the move, poor guy, but hes starting to explore again.
Gerbils and my younger hamster are fine, just doing their thing. Both are due for some setup changes, so just to figure out what to do for them. Got some ideas for the hamster but I'm not sure about the gerbils.
My old hamster (2+ years) is not doing so good. I think his time is near. I'm trying to just keep an eye on him, make sure hes comfortable and not suffering.
He was pretty old for a hamster when I got him, and had very poor care at his previous home. I got him with the knowledge he wouldn't be around long and just wanted to give him a chance to enjoy being a hamster in his final days or weeks or months. That was 6 months ago and I'm surprised how long hes stayed with me. I knew he wouldnt be with me long, but I wasnt prepared to actually watch him die. It's hard, monitoring him during his last days. Trying to evaluate whether hes in pain or not, whether it's better to take him to be put to sleep or if its preferable to let him stay in his nest.

I'm sorry to hear about your older hamster. Two is a good age for a hamster. Hopefully his last days will be peaceful and pain-free.
