Have you had your gerbil purr while holding. It is very subtle. They quiver. An extremely happy gerbil. My one gerbil Cloak purrs. She just loves to come out and climb all over me. She did that this morning before work and last night. So sweet. Never knew that the quivering meant purring. So Sweet!

Eugene was purring in my hands the other day - he seems to do it when I stroke the back of his neck in between the back of his ears.

When they vibrate, it usually means they are mad I believe.

I know Sandy had a couple older gerbils who did it. Very cool. I'm hoping mine will as they get older and more clam. Right now everyones to hyper to sit still and recieve pets

*spazzes* Kipp does it! If my mum strokes his head, while I hold him (naturally we're both cooing over him, saying how gorgeous/sexy/handsome he is) he sort of "trembles" and blinks, allll prettiful

It kind of sounds like what rats do. What the rats do is called 'bruxing.' When they're very content OR when they're nervous and are trying to calm themselves, they brux. It's actually them grinding their teeth together. When rats do it their whole body or their head usually shakes. Sometimes their eyes even pop out a bit, too. It's quite amusing to watch and cool to feel! I've never had a 'bruxing' or quivering gerbie. I hope soon I will!

Squirt is the only gerbil of mine that does that all the time when I pick him up. It's like he's talking back to me. I think it's thee cutest thing. ;D

Well instead of thinking that they hated me, they must love me then. ;D They vibrate in my hand all the time. So cute.
