my two are Kyo and Yuki. I was trying to figure out what to name them. At first I wanted to name them Tsubaki and Nakatsu. But they seemed too long of names. i than thought Hana and Nana, but those were too girly. than while playing with them i was watching Fruits Baskets. I had always like Kyo and Yuki Shoma. so i looked up the names, Yuki meant snow, and Yuki had a white patch that looked like snow, and Kyo means large, and Kyo is a little bit chunky. Yuki is very cunning and mischievous like Yuki Shoma and Kyo is a little hot-headed but an angel underneath it all like Kyo Shoma. They also play-fight a lot like the Shoma's. They pretty much names themselves!

We have four gerbils named after Great Old Ones from the works of HP Lovecraft. They are Nyarlathotep (Nyarly), Shubnigurath (Shubby), Ithaqua (Ithy) and Yig (Yig)! Most people look v confused when they ask the names of our super cute gerbils...

When I was little I wanted to name a puppy Biscuit, was the only name I really had my heart set on so as soon as I got my gerbils I already had a name ready.
Wasn't really sure on the others but I watched 'The Walking Dead' a lot so I stole Hershel & Glenn from that, I think it suits them. I was thinking about calling them "Meeko, Flit & Percy" The creature characters from Pocahontas :3 Made me laugh when I was younger, but I wanted a Biscuit more!

Mines name is Milo. I named him after the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, the Descendents. Milo Auckerman is awesome. And I love the album Milo Goes To College so I thought "Milo" would be a sweet name for a gerbil. The next gerbil I get will be named Elliot, because my friend wanted to name him that lol.

The names for our gerbils get majority vote from my girls, lol. Goldie, Pokey, Snowflake, and Chewy. I had to come up with the more formal versions - Golden Girl, Polka Dot and Chewbacca. So far, the names are correlated with their color/patterns.

I've got three girls- Hedwig is white, Pigwidgeon is grey, and Fawkes is an orangey honey color. If you've read Harry Potter or seen the films, I don't need to explain where the names come from

My gerbils' names had to do with color for sure. Raven's name came from my obsession with H.I.V.E (the book series) that I had at the time, with the secret agent named Raven. I also was trying to find a name that payed tribute to the color of Raven but wasn't too generic, like Shadow or Midnight. It also helped that Raven was the more elusive one in terms if being held, and she liked to hide when I first got her. Sand Lily's name came from how pretty I thought her fur was. I immediately wanted to name her after her sandy color. And after I found out that a sand lily is an actual flower, it was set. I nicknamed Sand Lily Nyan Gerbil after Nyan Cat, because Sand Lily is really hyperactive and loves any fatty or unhealthy treats. I guess all gerbils do, but Sand's willing to do anything for them. The name didn't really stick partially 'cause it was sort of stupid and partially because it was hard to say quickly. After a few weeks I thought about changing them because I pride myself on creativity and I didn't think the names were creative enough, but by then the names had stuck.

my two boys are Dusty the Siamese who i named for his color the first time i saw him in the pet store; and Koda the beautiful black gerbil that my niece named after watching "Brother Bear" the day before i brought him home. he was given up for adoption by his former owner, but unfortunately the people at the store didn't know his original name. you can see both of them in my signature

Red is named after her color. She's a dark eyed honey. I just like the name Sassy so that's my little one's name.

That's such an awesome story.. sounds like a great name for an indie band 'Two gerbils called Mary' I'm picking up our first two gerbils this weekend and we're going to let the boys (3 and 5) choose the names, although they seem to change their mind every time I ask them. At the moment my younger son gets fixated on naming them after either myself or my wife (so 'Daddy Gerbil' or 'Mummy Gerbil') but I might have to veto those.. and my older son is obsessed with the names of people he knows, like Stephen, or silly names which make him and his brother roll about in hysterics.. like 'Banana'.. This could be interesting.. I'll come back and update in 5 days!

I have a trio, called Sooty, Sweep and Scampy, after the teddies in Sooty and Co. Not only does it suit them in terms of looks, but they also all match the personalities of the original Sooty and Co. perfectly! Sooty is bold and adventurous, Sweep is shy and sweet, and Scampi is always ready to follow Sooty in whatever mischief he wants to get up to! Sooty and Scampy are siamese, and Sweep is a burmese

My current gerbils have been named after people that have been in the White House. Inspiration started with the headless body of Agnew from Futurama and has been added to since with like minded names. Agouti and SP Agouti males- Agnew and Spiro Pew male- Kennedy SP Dove female and LCP Agouti male- Lyndon and Ladybird
Hopefully in about a month I'll be adding to that list.
