Sorry about Sandy. She was real cute too. And yeah quit the what ifs, you'll just torture yourself with them. And even if it was your fault, what if'ing yourself won't bring her back now.. Use all that "what if" energy and time spent "what if'ing" yourself to death on your new gerbils. ;D

Yeah, lol. Sandy was very pretty and she was a good little gerbil. But now I have a lot of work to do since Rody is kind of pissed about the 3 new rodents.

Ryan, I'm so sorry. One of ours got out (the top of the cage wasn't latched properly either) this weekend I truly understand how frantic you felt.
Best of luck with your new guys, and don't beat yourself up over things you can't change.

Another oh no. Paws broke his leg. I was away on Holiday, and some BRATS whose mum my mum likes alot (well, not anymore) asked whether she could look after them. Of course, being generous as she is, my mum said yes, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!!!! (she completely blames herself for this.) I had a gut feeling they were going to do something. And sterlings tail is half broke off! AND...... oh @@@@@@. And paws might have to be put to sleep. :'(OH I hate those little kids. Brats brats brats brats. I'm sad and angry beyond belief. OH @@@@ Tears too far to express by smilies.

That's terrible! I'm not sure, is Paws a gerbil or a dog? If a gerbil, the broken leg will heal up fine, and the tail will heal too, though it will always be shorter. Gerbils are tough. No need to put to sleep.
Don't be too hard on the kids, they probably were not taught how to handle pets properly, and maybe did not get proper supervision. Your mom should have a talk with their mom, because she obviously did not understand how precious your pets are to you. Next time, find a responsible adult to care for your pets while you are gone. My grandmother does that for me, and all she has to do is make sure they have enough food and water. She doesn't even pick them up or open the cages, so its easy for her.

When it has finished healing,he may be left with a limp,or slightly odd movement, but it shouldn't affect him too much. I am really sorry that this happened to your gerbils, and to you.Have a grown up chat with your mum, about her loaning your stuff (in this case pets),to her friends.Hopefully, she wont ever do it again.I'm sure she thought she was giving her friends kids a treat, she wouldn't have expected them to hurt them,or not care for them properly. Did the brats mother apologise, and insist she pay any vet bills etc ? Hopefully, they will be properly supervised, with any living creature they ever hold/care for in the future.

Yup, she wanted to pay. The kids wouldnt admit they were being cruel though. My mum is really angry with the whole family now. SHe says next time she'll listen to my feelings about not letting smallchildren handle my small pets.

SHe says next time she'll listen to my feelings about not letting smallchildren handle my small pets. Your mom should be angry with herself for letting the kids touch them in the first place. Not the kids mother's fault. She wasn't there. How old were the brats? If they were like under 8, then it's still not really their fault they weren't taught how to handle animals. Some kids are just screwed up like that and really don' t know any better..they think it's funny when an animal is hurt. My mom had a friend with a 7yrold that would make the dog cry and then laugh.
